Claire has completed a master's level diploma in Clinical Art Therapy at the Canadian International Institute of Art Therapy (CiiAT) and an Honours Bachelor's degree in Studio Art and Psychology from the University of Guelph. Claire is registered with the Ontario Art Therapy Association (OATA), the Canadian Art Therapy Association (CATA), and in the process of becoming a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
Claire’s interest in art developed at a very young age. She has always been passionate about the art process, and more specifically the innate creativity of one’s mind. Claire believes that through the use of symbols and images, art and creativity have the power to cultivate expression and communication when words are not enough.
As an Art Therapist, Claire works from a humanistic client-centred approach, emphasizing the uniqueness of individuals, their experiences, and overall journey. She has a specialized certification in Attachment Informed Art Therapy. Claire has worked with a variety of youth and adults with concerns ranging from mental health, physical health, and developmental delays. As an Art Therapist, Claire’s overall goals are to help clients see their full potential through identifying and understanding emotions through artmaking.
Claire also provides group art therapy, which can allow for many different people to connect with others who might also be experiencing similar feelings or situations. Group therapy can help foster feelings of community and togetherness as participants collectively work on self-awareness and self-exploration while providing support for one another.
