Gabriel Aboutboul, RP(Q)
Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
Individual Therapy, Student Therapist

With a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from McGill University, Gabriel is completing his Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. In addition, he has over three years of experience providing mental health peer support in various settings, including music festivals, retreat centres, clinical research studies, and non-profit organizations, such as the Mood Disorders Association of Ontario. With this background, Gabriel has developed skills in employing harm-reduction strategies and building warm, trusting, and collaborative relationships with adults experiencing a range of emotional challenges and interpersonal issues.

As an experienced mindfulness and meditation practitioner, Gabriel effectively demonstrates awareness, non-judgement, and acceptance to meet clients where they are at. Gabriel gently explores and identifies each client’s unique needs and circumstances through active listening and compassionate inquiry. He utilizes a holistic framework during this assessment process, acknowledging the plethora of factors potentially contributing to a person’s symptoms, including biological, psychological, social, spiritual, cultural, and systemic elements. Gabriel then works collaboratively with clients to develop concrete goals and strategically draws from an array of psychological theories and counselling methods to help clients achieve them.

A core principle that informs Gabriel’s therapeutic practice is that clients are the experts of their own lives. From this perspective, he respects each person’s individuality and makes a consistent effort to empower their sense of autonomy and capacity for self-determination. Gabriel approaches each client as his equal, undertaking a facilitative role to support their innate healing intelligence.
