Kira holds a Master’s degree in counselling psychology from Yorkville University and an Honours Bachelor degree specializing in Psychology and Criminology from Western University. Additionally, Kira has completed the Applied Suicide Intervention Training (ASIST) and draws on training and experience from her previous roles.
Beginning or re-engaging in therapy can be tough and overwhelming for many people. As a therapist, Kira recognizes the strength and courage it takes to seek help. Kira takes a client-centered, holistic approach to help her clients understand and manage the challenges that they are experiencing. Each person is unique, and therefore Kira uses therapeutic practices that are individually tailored to each client’s strengths and needs. She uses a culturally-sensitive and trauma-informed framework to foster respect for diversity and to incorporate each client’s desires and beliefs while providing space for their needs.
Kira has experience working and volunteering in a variety of mental health environments including private practice, community organizations, and as a crisis responder with Kids Help Phone. From these roles, Kira has gained experience working with a wide range of concerns that people seek counselling for, such as Anxiety, Depression, Grief, Anger management, Self-Esteem concerns, and more. Through her experiences, Kira has recognized the importance of empathy and support to help individuals in need.
Sometimes we feel stuck, alone, and overwhelmed by life. Having a safe and non-judgmental space to work through our thoughts and emotions is key to overcoming existing fears, challenges, and concerns. Using a variety of techniques throughout the therapeutic journey, Kira will help clients gain insight and work towards solutions with empathy, support, and warmth. Kira has a passion for being with her clients throughout their therapeutic journey and works collaboratively with her clients to improve their well-being.
