Aasna Devani,
Individual Therapy, Student Therapist

With a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from SUNY Plattsburgh and a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counselling from Long Island University Brooklyn, Aasna is currently a Doctoral Candidate in the Counselling and Psychotherapy program at OISE, University of Toronto. Additionally, she is trained in Mental Health First Aid and has experience providing group and individual counselling in a substance use setting. Aasna has been trained in various modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.


Aasna takes a holistic approach to working with clients as she believes in the importance of seeing the client as a whole person and therefore in the effectiveness of a collaborative therapeutic relationship. In taking a holistic approach, Aasna maintains an open mind in terms of learning about where the client is coming from, understanding that what may work for one may not work for the other and utilizing techniques that may be specific to their identity and background. 


As a person centered therapist, Aasna believes in her clients’ capacity for healing and growth. Some values that guide Aasna’s clinical work are respect, consistency, autonomy and integrity. Additionally, she operates from a trauma informed and multiculturally competent framework. Aasna creates a nonjudgmental, accepting and safe space for clients to allow them to tell their own story and to achieve their goals.
