Dr. Miller joins us to share the definition of binge eating disorder and discuss its prevalence in the US. She delineates the differences between disordered eating and binge eating disorder. She walks us through her approach to working with a client with binge eating disorder, describing several of the coping strategies she teaches to manage emotions and anxiety. Dr. Miller also addresses the racial and systemic oppressions that many people with binge eating disorder face.
Dr. Marianne Miller specializes in eating disorder treatment for adults and teens. Dr. Miller has been a practicing therapist for 25 years, earning her master’s in marriage and family therapy from Abilene Christian University and her PhD from Texas Tech University. In addition to being a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California, she is a member of The International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals Foundation and the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. Dr. Miller is committed to helping clients with all types of food and body anxiety through her private practice in San Diego and via her online coaching platform worldwide. Dr. Miller recently launched the Elite Binge Eating Recovery Method. It is a 3-month online program that helps high performers regain their mental and emotional energy by shifting their relationship with food to be fully present in their lives.
