Emma Chan is a highly dedicated and compassionate psychotherapist with a client-centred and collaborative approach to therapy. Believing that clients are the experts on their own lives, she empowers individuals to explore their unique experiences, emotions, and challenges. Embracing a trauma-informed, feminist, anti-oppressive, and culturally informed perspective, Emma creates a safe and non-judgmental space for clients of all genders, family groups, and sexual orientations.

Emma adopts a holistic and systems-based approach that recognizes the interconnectedness of individuals with their environments. As an integrative therapist, she combines Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), narrative therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), attachment-based therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and psychodynamic approaches as primary modalities to tailor treatment to each client's unique needs and preferences.

Emma’s areas of interests encompass a diverse range of mental health concerns. She adeptly addresses anxiety, stress, depression, and low self-esteem, skillfully guiding clients towards self-acceptance and personal growth. With an in-depth understanding of identity formation and the significance of a strong sense of self, she assists individuals in exploring and affirming their authentic selves. Emma has a keen focus on fostering healthy and meaningful interpersonal relationships, enabling clients to develop satisfying connections with others.

With a wealth of qualifications, Emma brings a strong educational background to her practice. She holds a Master of Education in Counselling and Psychotherapy and an undergraduate degree in Psychology with a focus on mental health, both from the University of Toronto. Committed to maintaining the highest standards in her field, she has Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) status with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), and membership with the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals (OAMHP). Emma draws from a diverse and enriching previous career where she provided invaluable support to children and families through science education.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Emma values personal interests and self-care as essential components of a balanced life. In her free time, she enjoys swimming and cycling, often exploring new neighborhoods with her mini dachshund. She finds joy in discovering independent gelato and coffee shops, indulging in the simple pleasures that contribute to her overall well-being.
